The world is full of layers upon layers of natural beauty and wonder. If you’re ever bored, there’s no need to turn on the TV or swipe your phone, simply open your door and bear witness to all of nature’s radiant glory!

A paddle boarder in Washington recently got to see some of the Earth’s grandeur firsthand with an unexpected encounter.

Jennifer Bull recently visited Deception Pass State Park with her friends for a fun day of paddle boarding. Taking her camera, Jennifer was intent on documenting her and her friends’ day of adventure.

As the group got going, Jennifer saw something unusual in the water. To her surprise, she and her friends were paddling with a pod of orcas, also known as killer whales. Taking out her camera, Jennifer recorded the experience, which lasted a little over thirty seconds.

The group was awestruck to have such a close encounter with the magnificent animals, squealing and shouting as the pod bobbed up and down in the water as they passed them by.

When Jennifer got home, she posted the video of her encounter with the orcas on YouTube. The video quickly went viral, watched over 270,000 times. After so many people enjoyed watching her encounter with the whales, news outlets began lining up for interviews with Jennifer.

Speaking with reporters from KIRO 7 in Seattle, Jennifer said that the encounter with the whales was “really cool.” Conceding that she should have probably been scared, Jennifer said that she and her friends simply didn’t process how rare a sight the whales were until they got back to shore.

Continuing her story, Jennifer told reporters that the orcas weren’t the only wildlife they saw that day. After the whales passed by, she and her friends paddled to Lahti Bay and saw 8 to 10 seals.
