Alecia Beth Moore, who is known professionally as P!nk, is no stranger to the spotlight. At 46 years old, she’s become a household name, and has been a presence in the entertainment industry since 1995.
Known for her distinctive, raspy voice and tough, alternative exterior, P!nk has won three Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, a Daytime Emmy Award and seven MTV Video Music Awards, including the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She has sold over 100 million records worldwide, and because of this, she is one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time.
P!nk was also the second most-played female solo artist in the United Kingdom during the 2000s, behind only one artist — Madonna. Fittingly, Pink has named Madonna, along with Janis Joplin, as a major inspiration for her in her professional career.
Apart from her music, P!nk is known for being authentic and true to herself. Her lyrics often speak about being “real.” Not only does this theme appear in her music, but it seems to carry over into her personal life as well. She’s often very candid about her struggles and experiences, and she often expresses her desire to be seen as a real person, not just a celebrity.
This is the case in her romantic life as well. The singer is very vocal and open about her relationship in interviews and on her social media. She has been married to Carey Hart for 16 years, and she often speaks about the successes and failures in their relationship.

P!nk met professional motocross racer, Carey Hart, at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. The pair started dating soon after, and two years later, they separated. Shortly after the separation, the two decided to make it work.
P!nk proposed to Hart in June 2005 during a motocross race. The singer sent the media and fans into a frenzy when she held up a sign that read, "Will You Marry Me? I'm serious!" while Hart was racing on the track. Hart stopped in the middle of the race to accept the proposal.
The couple got married in Costa Rica in January of 2006. Two years later, P!nk announced that the couple had separated. This occurred shortly before she released her hit single “So What,” leaving fans to speculate if the song was written about her relationship with Hart.
To the relief of fans and loved ones, P!nk confirmed that they were together again in February of 2010. In June 2011, the couple welcomed their daughter, Willow Sage. In December 2016, they welcomed their second child — a son, Jameson Moon.
P!nk discussed her relationship in an interview with People in May of 2021. At the time, the couple had just celebrated their 15th anniversary. She talked about how their relationship began so long ago, just one year after she released her debut album. She said that over the years, they’ve had to learn how to appreciate one another and create a bond that can stand the test of time.
“We’ve really grown up together,” she said.

P!nk explained that they made their relationship work by making sure that they each had their own separate lives.
“When you first get together, you look at that person as your entire world. One person can't be your entire world. You have to have your own passions, your own friends, your own time to yourself. I used to be super needy," she said. "Now we expect less of each other, and that allows us to give each other more somehow."
The singer is candid about both the joys and trials of her relationship. She explained that for her, it would have been easier not to stay in the relationship long-term. Even throughout all the ups and downs, she was thankful she did.
"Long-term relationships are not easy,” P!nk said. “It is much easier to stay in the solid days and jump from relationship to relationship because then you don't have to fix the problems that keep recurring. You have to end up fixing yourself; you can't fix the other person."
P!nk is known for being an advocate for therapy and counseling. Though she attends counseling by herself, she said that going to therapy as a couple is what saved her relationship with Hart.
"I am a huge proponent of counseling in general. We both have therapy, individually, and we do couples counseling," she said.
In P!nk’s childhood, her parents didn’t stay married. She said that because of this experience growing up in a broken home, her number one priority is keeping her family together, no matter what.
“I don't want to break up my family,” P!nk said. “That's been my main goal, since I had a broken family. So sometimes you have to let it go. You can't die on every mountain."

In June 2020, P!ink posted an interview she hosted with her therapist, Vanessa Inn, with whom she also does marital counseling. The discussion was an eye-opener into the singer's private life, and her courage in sharing it served to show that acknowledgment of marital issues shouldn’t be shameful.
“I got a lot of s**t for telling people that Carey and I have been in couples counseling with Vanessa,” P!nk said in their discussion.
“It’s the only reason that we’re still together,” she continued. “Because you know, I think partners after a long time, we just speak — I can’t say it’s a man and woman thing, I think it’s a partner thing, a spouse thing — that you just speak two different languages.”
She said Inn was able to listen to her and her husband and “translate” them back to each other.
“Without Vanessa translating for me for the last 18 years, I mean, we would not be together,” she said.
“We just wouldn’t because we are not taught as kids how to have relationships, how to get along with people,” she added. “I mean, what’s happening in our country right now is a perfect example of that. We don’t know how to love each other, we don’t know how to get along, we don’t know how to communicate.”
The hard work appeared to be paying off, as in January 2021, P!nk posted a heartfelt post celebrating 15 years of marriage, writing in the caption:
“15 years. Proud of us babe. See, sometimes being stubborn pays off. What a wild ride it’s been, once we learned how to stay in our race line. Here’s to at least the next 15 months hahahah. I love you and I love our family.”
