Despite the warnings from law enforcement each summer about how dangerous hot cars can be for pets, people still make the mistake of abandoning these animals in dire circumstances.

While many owners decide to leave their animals behind in the car while they run quick errands, it's important that the car stays temperature controlled and the owners provide access to water for the animals. The situation is still not recommended, and with this new story, owners should be more cautious and aware of their animal's safety.

When bystanders at the Sea To Sky Gondola located in Squamish, British Columbia stumbled upon a dog that was abandoned during his owners hike, they couldn’t believe what they had just found.

The dog was wearing a diaper and was left completely alone in the blistering sun in the empty car parked in a lot of the hiking attraction.

It’s estimated that the dog was left alone for over two hours, and during that time the internal temperature of the car reached a sweltering 104 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature far too hot for any dog to survive for long periods of time alone without water and proper care.

Thankfully, the authorities were called and a tow-truck driver helped the officers get the dog out of the vehicle. It was apparent that the dog was in distress and it was placed into the custody of animal control.

When the dog was freed, witnesses couldn’t believe what they had just seen. They noted that they were completely sickened by how careless the owners had been with the neglect of their canine companion.

What’s even more surprising is the fact that the dog was wearing a diaper, a sign that the dog was meant to be left for many hours. This was alarming to both law enforcement and witnesses who found the dog.

Thankfully, the dog seemed okay and did not suffer any health consequences from being left in the hot car. Because there was no injury done to the animal, animal control eventually had to return her to the owners that abandoned her.

They will receive a fine for their wrongdoing, but will not likely face any criminal charges. You can learn more about this story in the video above. What do you think about the actions of these pet owners?
