Ike has unusual friends. His story is a fascinating one of heartache and triumph. It even goes back to before he was born. This is a unique story that explains why he came to have the wonderful life he has today.

Ike And His Wild Friend

Who is Ike? Ike is a German Shepherd rescued from a feral life. He might have had a hard life if he weren't rescued. Instead, he was adopted.

That's when Ike showed his ability to make friends with anybody - even a wild deer that lived in the nearby woods!

Ike lives in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. He enjoys his grassy backyard and loving owners. He also gets along well with other animals. Ike's owner managed to capture an amazing scene on video. Ike not only loves to play outside, but he also has a wild deer as a friend!

It Really Happened

Ike's owner, Ethan Cole, was watching his dog play in the yard one day. A deer approached. The dog and the deer seemed to know each other and communicated well enough to start a game of tag. Ethan watched as his shepherd and the deer bounded to the end of the fence. They turned and ran back.

There was no mistaking it - these two were having the time of their lives!

Ike really stretched his legs and had some serious competition, while the deer chose to stay and play. It recognized a fellow racer. They had a great time!

The Backstory

Part of Ike's story begins with Ethan's mother, Faith Peterson. She had a traumatic experience as a child. Her own mother took her German Shepherd puppy away from her and gave it away to a junkyard owner.

Faith had been crushed by the cruelty and awful helplessness of that experience. Years later, she learned of a German Shepherd at the rescue shelter that she supports. Ethan and Faith adopted the dog and named him after the dog she had lost so long ago.

Ike's story is as good as gold.
