Many of us have to simply grit our teeth and deal with messy neighbors, but Damian Miller was so disgusted with the smell emitting from his neighbors’ home that he began to complain to them, asking them to please clean up whatever was causing the odor. When things didn’t improve over months, Damian finally called the law to step in. What the officials found was shocking!

According to WJACTV, While Damian had tried to be nice to his neighbors, he had a sneaky suspicion that what was hiding in their house was worse than just a cleaning issue. When the odor became so overwhelming that his family couldn’t even enjoy swimming in their own pool, Damian had enough and called the police.

The police looked up the owners of the home and discovered that they had previous charges of animal cruelty. Prepared for the worst, they went to the home afraid that something had happened to another animal.

What they found surpassed their wildest fears. Inside the Frankovic home, they discovered more than one-hundred dogs. The animals were being held inside the small home and were in terrible condition. Some of the dogs were malnourished and all of them were living in their own filth.

The stench inside the house was so strong and the conditions so bad that rescue crews had to wear hazmat suits and use oxygen tanks. When the police became unable to deal with the task at hand, they had to call in the fire department so that they could spray the dogs off to remove some of the filth.

The rescue team felt overwhelmed as they continued to unearth more dogs. They found dogs hiding in the walls and even in the furniture. As soon as they thought they had caught them all, another one would appear.

Once all the dogs were at the animal shelter, volunteers counted 117 dogs. It was a night-long process for shelter workers who had to stay up around the clock to feed, bathe, and treat the dogs. One newborn puppy was unable to make it and another dog died before he could recover.

Within 24-hours of the dogs' rescue, the shelter raised over $6,000 in donations to help their care. At the same time, many people stepped forward to offer their services as foster homes until the dogs could find permanent families.

The original owners of the dogs are facing charges but insist that they were only trying to help the animals.
