For many young families, mornings can be rough. Between making breakfast, signing off on papers, packing school lunches, and more, it can be a real challenge to get out of the door on time. It is no surprise when a kid rolls in late to school when life gets in the way.

A little boy named Hunter from Grant's Pass, Oregon had been late to school a few too many times. His father said that they had been experiencing car issues but they could not afford to buy a new vehicle. So they were getting by the best that they could and trying to get Hunter to school on time.

After racking up too many tardies, the school had a policy that the student had to serve detention during lunch time.

Hunter's mother, Nicole, knew about this detention policy. Because she was concerned about how Hunter would deal with the lunch detention, she decided that she would stop by the school and pay him a visit to check to see how her son was doing.

When she arrived at school, Nicole was shocked to find Hunter sitting in isolation with a cardboard petition blocking him from interacting with the other students. This public shaming all because of being late to school angered Nicole.

“He wasn’t tardy so many times that he deserved that," she told ABC News.

After Nicole snapped some pictures of the situation, Hunter's grandmother shared the photos on social media. The post quickly went viral and the people of Grant's Pass took action by coming together to get the family a new van so that Hunter would never have to suffer this sort of humiliation again.
