Meditation is becoming increasingly popular as its many health benefits are being revealed. It can reduce stress and anxiety, lower your blood pressure, improve your attention span, and it might even improve your memory and cognitive skills. What's not to love about it?
Recently a number of celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Oprah, and Ray Dalio, have been encouraging people to try transcendental meditation.
Transcendental meditation
The practice is taught by certified instructors that host four-day teaching seminars. Oprah, Lady Gaga, and Ray Dalio all learned from the same instructor, Bob Roth, who is the CEO of The David Lynch Foundation, as detailed here at Shape Magazine.

A practitioner of transcendental meditation sits quietly for 20 minutes while reciting a mantra over and over. There is no need to learn how to "clear your mind of thoughts" or engage in special breathing exercises. You just chant the mantra and it quietens the mind and body.
After she learned how to meditate, Oprah brought a teacher to instruct the staff of her show about how to meditate, and they are given two special meditation breaks per day.
Dalio, who is a billionaire and the founder of Bridgewater Associates, says meditation is responsible for his success. He also brought transcendental meditation teachers into his company to teach his employees about the practice and its benefits.
Lady Gaga says she primarily uses meditation to help manage her fibromyalgia. She says meditation practice can make her pain go away.
For individuals interested in learning transcendental meditation, Roth published a book describing it and its profound positive benefits in 2018, Strength in Stillness: The Power of Transcendental Meditation.
If you know someone who might benefit from transcendental meditation, don't hesitate to discuss this story with them.
