On September 10th, Jessica and James Hill brought their little boy home from the hospital for the first time. It was over 100 days after he was born.

Little Finn James Hill came into this world as a micro-premie weighing just one pound. He had a long journey in the NICU unit at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando. When Finn was born, the doctors said it was 50/50 if the baby would survive. "Fighting Finn" decided to stick around.

The parents couldn't believe their little boy was home. His mom, Jessica, said to Good Morning America, "It didn't hit me until we left and it was the three of us for the first time." She didn't have to take him back. He was home. The journey to Finn's birth wasn't easy either. They had experienced nine years of infertility. After several rounds of IVF that failed, they turned to embryo adoption.

They adopted eight embryos. Their first attempt at an embryo pregnancy failed. But, their second attempt was successful. Jessica was pregnant with twins. Unfortunately, at 10 weeks, one of the twins died. However, the second one survived. That was Finn.

Then, at 24 weeks, Jessica experienced a blood clot that caused her water to break. Doctors told the couple that Finn's best chance of survival was outside the womb. On May 21, Finn came into the world via an emergency Cesarean section at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was supposed to have been born on September 6th.

A couple of weeks after birth, on June 6th, doctors had Finn transferred to Nemours' level 4 NICU.

This micro-premie had a rough time before he was able to come home. During that time, he had to spend most of the time on a ventilator. He also had to undergo surgery. One surgery was to repair a hole in his heart. The other surgery was to correct a serious illness that affected his intestines.

After surgery, Finn's health took off. His lung function started to improve.

Finn's parents brought him home four months after he was born. He now weighs in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces. Mom says Finn is sleeping good and is a pure joy to be around. "He just always has this grin on his face," she said. Jessica Hill thanked the couple who are Finn's genetic parents. "We're grateful this couple gave us our family."
