America's Got Talent head honcho Simon Cowell was in an accident earlier this summer when he fell off an electric scooter at his Malibu home, fracturing his back in three places. Thankfully he was lucky, and despite having emergency surgery, he's expected to make a full recovery.

Now, his best friend Sinitta has given the latest on his condition—Simon has walked again and is slowly making progress.

When news about Simon Cowell's accident first spread in early August, it was apparent that the television entrepreneur was awfully lucky to escape the way he did. Cowell's best friend Sinitta, a musician, actress, and TV personality, told Entertainment Daily recently:

"It was a serious accident. So for people who love him, like me, it was very, very scary."

After having emergency surgery, Cowell has been resting up at his Malibu home, while taking a hiatus from recording America's Got Talent. With such a critical accident, it's important that he takes his time and recovers properly. Sinitta added in the same interview:

"He's taken some steps, so he has reassured himself that he's not paralyzed. But he's got to take his time and get well."

However, despite the positive outlook, The Sun has reported that Cowell will be pulling out of filming for a Christmas special of Britain's Got Talent. The entrepreneur had hoped to make enough of a recovery to return for the one-off special. But with filming in two weeks, Cowell is unable to make the trip from his home in Los Angeles to the UK in time.

Taking his place on the judges' panel will be Ashely Banjo, a 31-year-old dancer, choreographer, and actor who already stood in for Cowell for the pre-recorded semi-finals of the show. A source told The Sun:

"Simon hoped he’d be well enough to fly from Los Angeles to the UK for the special show but he’s had to pull out...Ashley stepped in for Simon during the pre-recorded semi-finals and was a hit with viewers so he was the first choice to step in again.”

Despite his popularity, Ashley's group Diversity had complaints made against a performance of theirs on Britain's Got Talent this month, after incorporating elements of the Black Lives Matter movement in their routine. Over 24,000 complaints were made, but media regulator Ofcom announced the dance did not raise issues warranting further investigation.

Concerning Cowell missing Britain's Got Talent's Christmas special, The Sun's source added:

"Simon will of course be across the show and what happens on it but this is a massive blow for him as he adores Britain’s Got Talent.”
