When the first day of school rolls around, you usually see pictures plastered everywhere on social media sites. Parents are proud of their children and want to show family members and friends the new clothes, shoes, bookbags, and other accessories that mean children are another year older.

Millie Bea Hughes is a little girl who has cerebral palsy. The 4-year-old lives in Carnforth and was recently escorted to school by her mother. Her twin brother was also getting ready to go to school with her.

Millie's mother Natalie knew that it was difficult for her little girl to walk. She also knew that her daughter wanted to walk to school on her first day.

Millie's brother can be heard in the video encouraging her to take at least a few steps. He wants to know if she needs her sticks to walk, standing alongside her so that she can see how it's done and so that she has someone to lean on while she's getting her balance.

Natalie sheds a tear when she sees the video of her daughter as she takes just a few steps before going to school. Millie has had several surgeries to try to help with her cerebral palsy.

She has also been through several months of physical therapy to help get her legs and arms stronger. Millie's brother has never left her side and continues to be a special person in her success while walking.

Watch as Millie takes a few steps to show off her new school clothes as other children do on the first day of school:
