Olivia Jade Posts Mother's Day Tribute To Mom Lori Loughlin — Says She's 'The Best'

Actress Lori Loughlin was known across America as the witty mother in "Full House" and other television series. After spending two months in prison, Loughlin has since been released and has now spent the first Mother's Day with her daughters Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose since being incarcerated.

Loughlin and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli were sentenced to two months and five months in prison, respectively, for their roles in the 2019 college admissions scandal. The pair were prosecuted for use bribe money disguised as a donation to get both of their daughters into the University of Southern California. According to NBC, officials at the prison and the federal prosecutor's office said that the Full House star reported to a federal prison in Northern California on October 30, 2020.

She had surrendered early; the judge who gave her the sentence had ordered her to report to prison on November 19, 2020. Her husband was booked into a federal prison in Lompoc, near Santa Barbara, on November 19, 2020. Loughlin was released from prison on December 28, 2020, and her husband was released to home confinement on April 2, 2021, to finish out the rest of his sentence until April 16, 2021.

Now that both parents are home after serving their sentences, the whole family — including daughters Olivia Jade, 21, and Isabella Rose, 22 — has been able to celebrate Mother's Day together this year. In honor of her mother, daughter Olivia Jade posted to her Instagram to let her mother know that she's "the best."

Before Loughlin could celebrate Mother's Day with her daughters, she had to finish serving her prison sentence. According to Vanity Fair, prosecutors had made their final pitch in August to Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton for the husband and wife's sentencing recommendations.

Justin D. O'Connell, an assistant U.S. attorney in Boston, laid out the argument in a memo for Judge Gorton: Giannulli should get more prison time than Loughlin after they paid a total of $500,000 together to get their daughters into the University of Southern California (USC) as bogus rowing crew recruits.

Prosecutors recommended five months for Giannulli and just two months for Loughlin when they each flipped their pleas to guilty for one count of fraud in May 2020. Giannulli was, O'Connell argued, the more "active participant in the scheme," since he made the payments and took the infamous photos of his daughters posing with a rowing machine.

In the charging documents, it was apparent that the couple's daughter, then 20-year-old online personality Olivia Jade had been CC'd on at least one email with the scheme's organizer, William "Rick" Singer. According to Daily Mail, the memo added that Olivia's parents guided her through the process, especially regarding how to handle a potential whistleblower: an unnamed counselor at Olivia's high school.

The document also described Loughlin as "complicit" in the fraud, accusing her of "eagerly enlisting Singer a second time for her younger daughter, and coaching her daughter not to 'say too much' to her high school's legitimate college counselor, lest he catch onto their fraud."

When Olivia asked her mom if she should list USC as a top choice for college, Loughlin called the counselor a "weasel" who could "meddle" in the plan. Thus her advice of "Don't say too much to that man,' to her daughter.

The prosecution reiterated that Giannulli was the primary communicator with Singer and that he had intimidated a counselor who questioned Olivia's recruitment to USC, appearing at the school to confront the man over, in the counselor's words, "why I was trying to ruin or get in the way of their opportunities."

Singer's contact within the athletic department left a voicemail for Singer and asked him to tell parents not to show up unannounced on school campuses or to yell at counselors (the administrator had pleaded not guilty to conspiring to commit racketeering, fraud, and bribery, whereas Singer had pleaded guilty to four felonies).

However, now that the college scandal is done and both Loughlin and her husband have served their time, they were able to celebrate Mother's Day together as a family. Daughter Olivia Jade, a Youtuber, shared a black and white photo of her mother on Instagram to honor the day. The caption read:

"You are the best. period."

Loughlin's other daughter, Isabella Rose, posted a series of throwback photos on her Instagram with the caption, "mama bear."

According to PEOPLE, both Loughlin and her husband are "relieved" to be home after being in prison. A source told PEOPLE:

"Mossimo is, of course, happy to be done with the home confinement. They are both beyond relieved to have completed their prison sentences. Mossimo has to finish his community service, but then he can really move on."

The source went on to add:

"Lori is a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She and Mossimo made huge mistakes. They have taken responsibility for them and just want to start fresh now."
