Older Boys Bully Young Boy - But Fortunately, Nearby Adults Quickly Intervene

Bullying has become a buzzword in recent years, and schools and communities have been aggressively attempting many ways to combat it. However, the situation for many kids has not seemed to have been helped by such efforts.

This is why Matthew Bandeira decided to delve more into the bullying issue by setting up a social experiment, with a little help from his friends. With a group of three older boys and a younger boy with a ball and a backpack, Matthew set up his various social experiment scenarios.

What was the one thing he wanted each scenario to include? An adult within close proximity.

In our current age, adults don't seem to parent neighborhood kids like the used to. Each seems to take care of his/her own children. But, even in the current age, Matthew wanted to see if unrelated and unsuspecting adults would come to the rescue of a bullied child. Matthew wanted to see just how much adults would intervene.

As Matthew points out in his video, way too many young people are experiencing bullying, with 160,000 kids a day not attending school because of it. This, clearly, is far too many!

But are these kids being bullied when adults are present, or is the bullying happening beyond the vision of nearby adults?

The first to meet Matthew's test was a mom supervising her own children at a playground. When one of the older boys approached our victim and aggressively slung his backpack away from this young boy, this mom was quick to react.

Without hesitation, she jumped right into the mess and brazenly asked the boys what they were doing. She then went on to instruct them on the difference between bullying and playing.

But was this mom a fluke? Would other adults act in the same way?

Matthew did his experiment two more times, this time with two adults who were immersed in their own devices. Would these two even notice the bullying when looking at their phones and tablets? Or would they be too consumed by their own personalized technology to see what was going on?

See just how these unsuspecting adults reacted to the staged bullying and put yourself in their situation.
