News stories always seem to involve sad, gruesome, or horrifying events. There is rarely a positive headline or topic that is sent through news outlets. While it is arguably more important to know about the bad events happening in the world, the constant barrage of negativity keeps many people from listening to the news on a regular basis.

Fortunately, there are some stories that involve odd and humorous details that offer a nice reprieve from sadder stories. One such story has recently been released in the country of Brazil. State officials were able to seize a parrot whose sole job was to alert drug dealers to the presence of police. The 'lookout parrot' is still in police custody.

The Military Police 17th Battalion released a group of officers to track down drug dealers at a home in the small town of Teresina, Piauí. The unorthodox raid took place on Monday. When the officials arrived at the home, a bird could be heard shouting "mama, police". This specific message led police to conclude that the parrot was trained to be a lookout for the drug dealers.

Major Mello, a member of the Military Police 17th Battalion, was interviewed by local news station Ultimo Segundo after the incident. According to Major Mello, the bird started to scream right when his group approached the home. This led officials to believe the bird was trained for this sort of situation.

The home belongs to a woman called India. She has been arrested more than once in the past for drug dealing offenses. During the investigation, police found India's husband Edvan with four packs of crack cocaine. Their daughter was also found to be in possession of marijuana. According to a report, the parrot is going to be transferred from the Environmental Police Battalion to a local zoo.

According to The Guardian, the bird will be taught how to fly for three months before being released. It seems as though the parrot has been trained well. In addition to alerting his drug-dealing friends, the bird has refused to talk to police since its capture. One reporter claimed that the parrot was "completely silent". Alexandra Clark, a local veterinarian, confirmed that the bird was refusing to talk to any officers in the precinct.
