Too many police officers are portrayed badly in the news. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great officers all around the country. Take, for instance, one police officer who is from South Hill, Virginia. For many of the children of the area, he is a major superhero.

Cpl. C.B. Fleming is known as the “South Hill Batman” according to Iesha Roper-Boswell. That is because Boswell has seen just how much of a difference Fleming has made during his time on the force. Boswell was able to catch Fleming on video one day, doing exactly what he loves to do.

A call came in about a gas leak at Boswell’s apartment. While the emergency was occurring, some of the local children were playing around outside. The girls were keeping themselves occupied with dolls while the boys colored. Instead of just passing them by, Fleming was going to get down and play with them.

Boswell shared the sweet video on Facebook where it has since gone viral. She wanted to thank him for his actions and wrote that we all need more police officers like him. According to a lot of the comments that started to roll in, this wasn’t an unusual reaction from Fleming.

Bri Johnson wrote that he is a favorite customer of hers at McDonalds, which even prompted a comment back from Fleming himself. He told her that being there would make his morning.

We can tell that this is one police officer who wants to make time for everyone in his community. He told WTVR that he didn’t want to just write tickets and be regarded as the bad guy every day of his life. He wanted to be a bright spot for someone instead.

Fleming has been a police officer for 15 years. He told WTVR that he has wanted to serve his community from a young age, stemming from an incident where another police officer acted as a good role model to him.

This is a truly heartwarming story that goes to show we should never judge someone on their occupation. There are many wonderful men and women in the community who are willing to go above and beyond for others.
