Officer Makes Request To Homeless Girl Living In "Suspicious Vehicle" That Makes Headlines

If you've ever seen someone who is homeless, then you know that it's a life that isn't all that desirable.

They face struggles that many people don't know about. It's sometimes hard to get food to eat, and unless they have a friend to stay with or are staying in a hotel, it's hard to find somewhere to sleep each night that is safe and that keeps them out of the weather.

An 11-year-old and her mother were living in a car when they were criticized for not having a proper home.

Someone living in the neighborhood saw the girl and her mother and contacted the local police department to report them because they looked suspicious. A police officer showed up at the car, frightening the young girl. The officer told the young girl to quickly get out of the car, ignoring the look on her face and the fear in her eyes.

While some officers try to make life a bit more difficult for those who are homeless, Officer Zach Pricer made a few contacts to try to get help for the young girl and her mother once he realized what they were going through.

One call was to the Homeless Task Force in Huntington Beach.

Officer Pricer's partner started talking to the young girl's mother to try to determine how long they had lived in the car and their overall situation while Officer Pricer played with the 11-year-old. He drew a hopscotch game on the sidewalk so that they two could play together.

When the girl saw that Officer Pricer wasn't as frightening as he seemed at first, she relaxed a little and started playing along. This young girl hadn't played the game before.

All she needed was someone to show that they cared, which is what Officer Pricer did. Watch as the policeman plays a friendly game while changing a few rules to make it fun for both players:
