Officer Gets Call About Cries Coming From Dumpster, Discovers 8 Newborn Puppies In Trash Bag

A man in Wisconsin recently committed an act that most people would consider unthinkable. He tossed a bag filled with eight newborn puppies inside of a dumpster. The puppies are safe now. And each of the fortunate canines has been given names that refer to cheeses in honor of their home state.

The eight puppies were placed in a bag that included the trash from a household when they were only one day old. It was 17 degrees outside when they were thrown into the dumpster. A door to door salesman, who was working in the area, heard the cries of the puppies and called the police.

Officer Bob Larson answered the call. He says he cannot understand how any human being could do a thing like he was witnessing. He says if not for the salesman's call, the eight puppies would surely have died in a very short time.

The man who tossed the puppies, Robert Wild, was arrested and charged with abandoning the puppies in a dumpster located just outside the home in which he lived. Wild actually sells puppies for a living. Apparently, he tossed the litter in the dumpster by accident, not planning to leave them in the dumpster.

The puppies all survived their ordeal and were given a clean bill of health by a veterinarian. They presently live at the local pet shelter and will soon be offered for adoption. Already, more than 200 applicants have expressed interest in adopting the pups.
