Tuesday was a memorable day for Jiwandeep Kohli as Former President Barack Obama tweeted him a message of support after Kohli had shared a picture of himself on Twitter wearing a rainbow turban in honor of Pride Month.

Jiwandeep Kohli posted a picture of himself last Saturday wearing a rainbow color turban to mark the first day of Pride Month in 2019. Soon after sharing, the post went viral on Twitter with users tweeting and retweeting Kohli's photo. One Twitter user who happened to see the photo tweeted at Kohli to voice his support as well. However, this Twitter user just so happened to be the 44th president of the United States.

Former President Barack Obama tweeted to Kohli, "You've got a lot to be proud of, Jwandeep. Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal. Turban looks great, by the way. Happy Pride Month, everybody!" Kohli was speechless as he tweeted back saying, "I’m a fairly verbose person, but today I am lost for words. Thank you for your support and the complement, Mr. Obama. If I can ever repay them with pastries, please let me know!"

Kohli told Mashable, "The public reaction has been overwhelmingly positive." He said he realized that opening himself up could result in backlash and negativity but that has been totally offset by the community of support and also the striking number of positive messages that he has received.
