The gift of kindness can go quite a long way. This is something that Robert Olson experienced with a special gift from a nurse.

Olson was admitted into the Bronson Hospital that's located in Michigan. This is where he met and became friends with one of the most caring nurses.

On arrival, Olson was so ill that he wasn't able to speak and was admitted into hospice care. It's incredible that through this nurses help, he was able to find a voice that he hadn't used in a very long time.

This is a gift that he would not forget, thanks to his nurse, Brenda Buurstra.

She was informed by family that he loved the song "You Light Up My Life" sung by Debby Boone. She thought it would be a perfect opportunity to lighten up his day and bless him with a little tune.

She wasn't sure of all of the words to the song, but she told Olson that she would print them out and they could sing it together.

She had no idea how he would react. This song was such a precious gift. It was so uplifting to him. She couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.

Roverta Lytle, Olson's daughter, thought that once her dad had entered into hospice care meant that her time with him was over. She didn't expect him to get better or come home.

Lytle caught a video of Buurstra singing to Olson. Unbelievably, he started to sing with her. It was so overwhelming to Lytle. She stated that she even teared up when it happened.

Only a short week after their performance, a miracle happened. Olson recovered enough to break out of the hospital and be united with his family again. He was going home!

Singing to her patients isn't something that isn't new to Buurstra. She's actually been doing for 14 years! This was the first time that anyone had ever captured it on video.

Lytle was so happy that she was able to spend more time with her dad. This means the world to Buurstra as well.

Buurstra goes on to say that for her, that's what nursing is all about. She wants to touch their lives and their hearts. She wants to make a difference to them. She goes on to say that staying in the hospital is rough and anything that can make their day a little brighter or better, is something she wants to accomplish.

Check out the beautiful video above, it had me in tears! What do you think? Let us know in the comments and send it on to someone else to brighten their spirits.
