Nurse Knits Festive Baby Yoda Hats At Pittsburgh Hospital

Dec 20, 2019 by apost team

A nurse in Pittsburgh has been using her crafting talents to create adorable, festive hats for newborns. Her latest hats take inspiration from a new Star Wars show. For the holidays, newborns at this nurse's hospital are dressed in Santa hats that are "Baby Yoda" style. And everyone is loving it.

Caitlin Pechin, a staff nurse at the UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital has been making these cute Baby Yoda hats for the newborns who are born there, as reported at ABC News. She's a Star Wars fan, and she also says the cute alien ears on a Santa hat represent an "out of this world Christmas".

Pechin is becoming known for her creative generosity. Recently, she made tiny cardigans to give newborns a Mister Rogers look for World Kindness day, according to Today.com.

Her hospital even invited Fred Rogers' widow Joanne to meet the babies who were honoring Mister Rogers that day. WQED Radio in Pittsburgh followed that story, and acknowledged it with a kind tribute and a photo on Twitter.

According to the hospital's Facebook account, Pechin has been knitting and crocheting for years, often putting her talents to work for the babies in her care. Her work has included lots of adorable baby-sweater styles, and it seems she even has an Etsy shop where she sells some patterns and some finished items.

Star Wars fans have been thrilled with the newest Star Wars show, "The Mandalorian". It seems that everybody's favorite character is the little guy known as Baby Yoda.
Die-hard Star Wars buffs are quick to point out that the tiny alien is not actually the Jedi Yoda as a baby, but the adorable character is clearly a very young alien of the same species. And even though nobody knows his real name, "Baby Yoda" has stolen hearts far and wide. Fans are in love with the little guy and are even dedicating songs to the character on YouTube.

We think it's awesome that nurse Caitlin Pechin is sharing her talents -- and her love of Baby Yoda -- with new babies and their families. What do you love about this story? Who do you know that would love this story? Let us know what you think.
