During the summer of 2018 in Missouri, Justin and his twin brother Ryan were walking down the road to a friend’s house, as WHNT News reports. The twin boys were seven years old at the time and on the way to give some candy to their friend. This summer afternoon was life-changing because Ryan made it back home, but Justin ended up in the hospital. Justin was hit by a speeding car while trying to cross Adie road and was rushed to the hospital.

The accident resulted in Justin breaking most of the bones in his face, according to the local news source. Justin’s parents were delivered another blow when the doctor told them that Justin would not be likely to walk again. However, he has proved everyone wrong within the last two years of this horrific accident.

Two years later, Justin is 9-years-old and recovering from the accident. Even though he was told he would never walk again by a doctor, Justin beat the odds and was able to walk once more. He has an incredible outlook on life and has also helped his family gain a positive perspective.

On August 22nd of 2020, the Saint Ann community gathered to watch Justin walk on the exact same road where he was hit, according to WHNT News. His family was also present as they supported him through this incredible event. The neighborhood got to watch a miracle.

“He’s slowly getting better with his walking. Slowly getting some feeling back in his legs a little bit at a time, and he is perfectly happy how he is,” said Hannah Welch. “Cognitively, he is perfectly fine, a little crazy, but to be expected with a 9-year-old.”

The Welch family was devastated by this accident. However, Justin proved that miracles could happen. It was unreal for Helen to experience this moment, but she also says it was amazing to watch how Justin responded to the near-fatal accident in the Fox 2 St.Louis video below.
