A boy who is just 9 years old couldn’t hold back his tears after having his last cancer treatment. His mother, whose name is Ashley Cotter, recorded her son Steven crying after his last chemotherapy treatment because the boy was happy it was over and he beat the disease. Ashley posted the video of her son on Facebook, to an overwhelming response.

In the video, you can see tears roll down the little boy’s face. He then swallows his last dose of medicine. There are two boys in the room with him who are watching Steven and cheering him on. Then the camera focuses on a table that’s covered with empty containers and bottles from all the medication Steven took for the past three years. At this point in the video, Steven holds up his arms in victory, then throws them around his father to give him a big hug.

ABC News stated that Steven developed an acute case of lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of six. Treatment for his cancer began in 2016. With the next three years came cancer treatments that included transfusions and chemotherapy.

“It was absolutely horrible to hear the words ‘your son has cancer,’ absolutely heart wrenching; but to finally be here at the end and to have witnessed my 9-year-old boy beat cancer and do his chemotherapy treatment with a smile on his face and his head held high was absolutely amazing," his mother said to ABC News.

She also stated that what they experienced brought the family closer to each other and closer to God. Ashley said they never lost faith. Cotter said her son was seen in the video with his dad, younger brother, and his best friend, whose parents have been close family friends for 13 years.

Warm the hearts of others by telling them about Steven’s courage and determination to beat cancer. Consider showing people who have this disease there’s hope by having them read this story.
