Nicole Kidman Pipes In With Dolly Parton Lyrics During Keith Urban’s Exchange With Country Music Icon

Dolly Parton and Keith Urban are two massive heavyweights of the country music scene and have performed together on several occasions. The stars hinted at another collaboration in the works, and this time, Urban's Hollywood superstar wife Nicole Kidman may get in on the action as well!

Parton was born on Jan. 19, 1946, in Sevier County, Tennessee, and began singing at a young age. Her solo career took off in the 1970s with hits like "Jolene," "I Will Always Love You" and "9 to 5." She became known for her powerful voice, songwriting skills, and flamboyant style.

Urban was born on Oct. 26, 1967, in Whangarei, New Zealand. He moved to Australia with his family when he was young and began playing guitar at the age of 6. In the 1990s, Urban moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in country music. He released his first self-titled album in 1991 but didn't achieve mainstream success until the early 2000s with hits like "Somebody Like You," "Days Go By" and "You'll Think of Me." Urban is known for his virtuosic guitar playing and his ability to blend country music with rock and pop influences.

Despite their different backgrounds and styles, Parton and Urban have a lot in common. They both write and perform their own music and have won numerous awards for their work. Parton has won 11 Grammy Awards, and Urban has won four. They have also both been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, one of the most prestigious honors in country music.

Their mutual admiration for each other became clear after Urban responded to some endearing praise from the "Islands In The Stream" singer, which hit a higher level of delight when his wife got in the picture as well.

Despite having been in the business for almost 60 years, Parton is showing no signs of slowing down. In 2023, the 77-year-old released a new book, "Behind The Seams," which charts her journey in costume and hair. She has also been busy promoting her partnership with baking brand Duncan Hines, which she first collaborated with in 2022, releasing her first installment of limited edition baking products that included a Southern Style Coconut-flavored cake mix, Creamy Buttercream Frosting, Chocolate Buttercream Frosting and a Southern Style Banana Pudding-flavored cake mix. The second line of products was released in early 2023 and includes brownie, cornbread and biscuit mixes.

In January 2022, Parton sat down with "Good Morning America" to talk all things baking and was asked who she would most like to bake a cake and sing a duet with.

"Probably any of the good-looking ones," the singer remarked. "I love Keith Urban. I've always thought that he was one of the most talented — and cutest — guys in the world."

However, the music icon made it clear she wasn't looking for any trouble with Urban's wife, Kidman.

"I'm not trying to hit on him, because he's got Nicole and who could beat that? She's Jolene," Parton said.

"I love his writing, I just think he's dear," Parton continued. "He reminds me so much of my brothers and my own family from back home. He's from Australia, but he has that feel of our mountain, southern people. I'd be happy to bake a big ol' cake for him and spend an afternoon singing songs," she said.

When Urban caught wind of all the lovely things Parton had said, he couldn't help but film a video response that made us swoon over the sweet friendship between the two country singers.

On Feb. 4, 2022, Urban reposted the clip of Parton's appearance on "Good Morning America," along with a response he filmed. He started with guitar in hand, singing the Parton classic "Applejack." The song was among some of the country music classics Urban used to perform in his younger days, with a clip of him performing it as a teen surviving to this day.

"Miss Dolly, I'm so honored of the things you said, thank you. I definitely will have a cake with you," Urban began before he was cutely interrupted by Kidman, who swung her head into the camera frame.

"I'll bake the cake with you," Kidman quipped and moved back out of the frame. However, she quickly popped back in with one hand in a peace sign. She referenced one of Parton's biggest hits, "Jolene," and said, "But don't take my man!"

While heartily laughing at his wife's quick wit, Urban continued his message to Parton with a smile, "Nic's going to bake the cake with you."

Urban then turned back to the camera and said, "Thank you so much, we love you Dolly," as Kidman could be heard off-camera repeating, "We love you Dolly!"

Lastly, Urban closed out his message and said: "I would love to have cake with you," before turning to his wife and saying, "we all would — and I would love to do a song with you sometime."

It would no doubt be great to see Parton and Urban onstage together again, particularly after they lit up the stage at a benefit for the Country Music Museum and Hall of Fame in 2010 with a soaring rendition of a George Jones classic, "He Stopped Loving Her Today."
