Nicole Kidman Broke Her Silence On Keith Urban Split & Going Into ‘Full Witch Mode’

Nicole Kidman has stayed largely quiet since news of her split from Keith Urban broke — but she's finally speaking, and she's doing it on her own terms. In a wide-ranging interview with Variety published in March 2026, Kidman opened up about the past year, her upcoming projects, and what life has looked like since she filed for divorce from the country music star in September 2025.
Kidman and Urban, both 58, originally met in 2005 and married the following year. They share two daughters — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15. Their divorce was finalized on January 6, with Kidman granted primary custody of their daughters at her Nashville residence. Both parents agreed to share joint responsibility for major decisions in their daughters' lives going forward.
She was deliberate about how much she would share about the split. "What I'm grateful for is my family and keeping them as they are and moving forward. That's that," Kidman said. "Everything else I don't discuss out of respect. I'm staying in a place of, 'We are a family,' and that's what we'll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."
She also touched on her desire to return to the stage someday — Broadway, the West End, even regional theater. But she was clear about where her priorities lie right now. "You just need to get your children to a certain age to be able to do it. Right now is not the time for me; I've got to take care of these kids. I've got to fill this summer with kid stuff."

Still, Kidman said she was far from retreating from her screen career. With the release of her Prime Video series “Scarpetta“ and a highly anticipated “Practical Magic“ sequel in the works alongside Sandra Bullock, she has plenty to look forward to professionally. And she’s not shy about gushing about it.
It was Variety who set the tone for the conversation, asking Kidman whether every year was “the year of Nicole Kidman.” Her answer was disarmingly honest.
“Well, not last year. I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she replied.
For Urban and everything that came with their split, Kidman has chosen grace over detail. She’s spoken her piece — her family is intact, her girls are her priority, and the rest stays private. When asked directly whether she was doing all right in the months since the separation, her answer was simple and steady.
“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she said.
And when Variety pressed her on whether she was ready to come back out of that shell, Kidman didn’t leave much room for interpretation.
“Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have ‘Practical Magic’ with Sandra Bullock. I’ll be in full witch mode,” she said.
After a year of grief, quiet, and putting her daughters first, Kidman has stepped back into the spotlight — and by the sound of it, she’s had enough time in the shadows to figure out exactly who she wants to be on the other side of it.
