Melanie and Tyler Tapajna were set to get married on August 15 of this year. Unfortunately, their plans for a grand celebration were put at a halt after the nation underwent a health crisis. After they got married, the couple devoted their time to put the catering from their wedding to good use. They donated the food to the local women's crisis shelter during the first few hours of their wedded lives.

Like a majority of us, Tyler and Melanie Tapajna have also faced many struggles this year. They were especially impacted, however, because they were planning to get married this year. The date was originally set for August 15 and the couple had planned a large celebration.

They had planned every aspect of their wedding, from coordinated attire to the location and even the catering, CNN reported. The pandemic put all of their planning to a halt as the couple was uncertain if they could even get married this year anymore.

They were forced to adapt to the new situation and cut down on most of the aspects of their planning. They would have to book a smaller location to accommodate fewer people and enforce safety precautions.

Fortunately, the couple followed through with their plans to get married on August 15, but instead of hosting a grand celebration, they decided that they could use the time to help other people. After they were married, they went to The City Mission's Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center where they made use of their catering and gave food to all of the facility's residents.

Melanie later explained that she made the choice intending to spread love and positivity to everyone in her city. The couple spent their first hours of married life helping the unfortunate. Instead of donning a gown and suit, Melanie and Tyler were clothed with hairnets and masks as they helped feed the residents of the facility.

The couple claimed that they were thanked by almost every person that they fed. They even received a few congratulatory remarks on their recent marriage. The organization's CEO, Richard Trickel praised the couple for their dedication to helping others, even on the day of their wedding.

He said that the couple could have done anything else to celebrate their marriage, and instead, they chose to devote their day to donate to the shelter. Richard also stated that this was the first time a couple had donated wedding food to the organization.

According to TODAY, the organization is extremely grateful for the donations because it has not been receiving frequent funding to provide a sustainable shelter for its residents. Any little bit helps and the efforts of Melanie and Tyler definitely made a positive impact.

Melanie and Tyler performed a great, selfless act of kindness and gave back to their community on the happiest day of their lives. There are plenty of ways that all of us can give back to our own communities and make a positive impact during the current pandemic.
