Newlyweds Call Security About Missing Gifts Then See Wedding Crasher On Hotel’s Video Cam

Unlike when Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson hilariously crash a wedding, there are real wedding crashers out there that have a far worse agenda than simply gaining access to an open bar and a free slice of cake.

This was the unfortunate news that one newlywed couple found out the hard way.

A wedding should bring nothing but wonderful memories for the couple to hold onto for a lifetime. One awful intruder did the unspeakable: he stole the box full of envelopes containing cards, cash and gift cards meant for the newlywed couple.

According to CBS, Maribel and Anthony had a wonderful wedding reception in February of 2019. The night was exceptional for the couple and their (invited) guests. The ceremony was perfect and the couple headed to the Doubletree ballroom to celebrate their union with their closest family and friends.

As is custom, there was a box set out for guests to place their cards and gifts for the couple to kick-start their new life together. The couple never gave the box a second thought; they assumed it was safe because they were surrounded by the people who meant the most to them. However, they quickly learned that was not the case.

While the 100 guests celebrated the couple by having a great time dancing the night away, Anthony soon realized that the box was missing, but waited until the end of the service to tell the bride so as to not upset her. He slipped away to speak with hotel security. They quickly saw on the surveillance tape that an unknown man in a suit had clearly pretended to be an invited guest before snatching the box and rushing out the exit door.

Maribel was ecstatic to open the gift box. Although it turned out that the box had contained at least $10,000 of cash and gift cards, Maribel was most excited to read the heartfelt messages that their loved ones had thoughtfully written to them. She was naturally very upset when she learned the box had been stolen.

However, she and Anthony agree that they have their health and they have each other, and that is the most important thing. The couple filed a police report with the video of the man who robbed them. A friend of the couple started a fundraising campaign online to recoup some of the lost gifts. However, the couple says their greatest hope is that something like that never happens to anyone else.

Can you believe how brazen that thief was? Do you believe in karma? This is so shocking. Have you ever experienced a wedding being crashed? Let us know in the comments - and make sure you pass this along to your friends and family!
