Warm weather means lots of fun outside with your family and pets. But temperature extremes affect pets in the same way they affect humans, especially those with thick coats of fur like Newfoundlands.

In this video from 2019, one dog-parent got creative on an especially hot day by filling up a kiddie pool with ice. His Newfoundland dog looked more than happy chilling in there!

While Chihuahuas would shiver in a temperature that we might consider "good enough", a Newfoundland dog is very much like the land from which they hail. Rough, rugged, beautiful, and made for winter! Dogs will usually try to find a way to beat the heat, whether that means sheltering in the shade of a tree, lapping up water like there's no tomorrow or other things, it never hurts to give your furry friend a hand! Remember, we can sweat. They can only pant.

That's one "cool" dog

The owner of this Newfoundland beauty knew exactly what to do, filling up an adorable kiddy pool with ice to keep their pet nice and chilled out. Especially if your dog has to be left alone, smart moves like this are important. Dogs are smart and will seek out ways to keep cool, but this adorable dog got the help he needed on a hot day! And remember, a doghouse is not necessarily going to provide any protection against the heat or cold alike.

Wagwalking reports that dogs can be as sensitive to temperature extremes as humans, and they don't exactly have hands to build themselves some way to get relief. It's up to the responsible owner, nor do their owners always recognize the signals.

It's a dog's life

But what's clear from this precious video is Newfoundlands are not made for summer! He's settled into his pool, and we doubt he could be moved with a forklift. And with all that free ice, why not munch on it a little, which he does. He looks a bit lazy, but that's far from being a pampered pooch. How cool would it be to be this dog, lazing in your icy kiddy pool without a care in the world! Seems like a great way to pass a beautiful, but hot, day.

Have a look at this adorable video and relax with some vicarious enjoyment through this fuzzy pooch! And when you're finished watching, be sure to send links to it to your dog-loving friends and family. It's sure to "chill" them out!
