Newborn Pit Bull Puppy Was Left Alone Dying So His Rescuers Put Him Next To The Cat's Babies

An abandoned, newborn Pit Bull mix was fortunately rescued by the Cleveland Animal Protective League.

The care team at the league named him Noland. At the time, they were also caring for a stray mom cat named Lurlene with a litter of four kittens.

The team had an idea they were not sure was going to work since they had never tried it before, but desperate times call for desperate measures, as the saying goes. Noland was in such very bad condition that something drastic needed to be done to save his life.

Their idea to allow Lurlene to nurse Noland turned out to be an ingenious one.

Lurlene was surprisingly very receptive to the tiny pup when she was introduced and treated him as if he were hers. Noland was just as receptive to Lurlene and her family, sleeping right beside Lurlene and the four kittens. Lurlene was every bit as protective of the pup as she was of her own litter. Noland was found using the litter box several times, too.

Noland fit right into the family with no problem at all.

Thanks to Lurlene and the care team at the Cleveland Animal Protection League, Noland, whose condition at first didn't show much hope for survival, recuperated exceptionally well.
