Each one of us is profoundly important and can create positive changes in the world. Whoever we are and whatever we do, we can all be the difference between life for each other. One New York plumber never dreamed his evening drive would turn into a lifesaving mission. Joey Hansen was crossing the Brooklyn Bridge when he saw a man on the ledge. The 29-year-old was able to talk the man down and save his life.

Another Long Day

According to CBS News New York, Joey Hansen is no stranger to long days of hard work, however, on one particular day during a snowstorm, he was able to go home early. When Hansen got to the Brooklyn Bridge, he noticed a young man getting ready to jump. The plumber knew he couldn’t just watch this stranger plummet to his death. He had to act now.

Saving A Life

Quickly opening his window, Hansen addressed the man as he does his own friends: “Hey Boss!” Once he gained the stranger’s attention, he urged him to turn back because he could change anything in his life.

A Change In Plans

The 24-year-old man then changed his mind. Instead of taking his own life, he began the process of regaining it. The man was taken to Beth-Israel Hospital where he has begun to move toward his future.

"It was a cry out for help," 29-year-old Joey Hansen told CNN. "I just hope that he gets the help he needs and goes on to be happy with himself."
