Parents can and do expect that their children will be given all the care and attention they need in daycare centers. When staff at daycare centers fail to provide this kind of environment, it becomes a betrayal, a fact that one mom from Newark, New Jersey learned the hard way.

23-year-old Anari Ormond picked up her beloved 6-month-old daughter Zuri Rose Camara only to find that her little one was covered in bruises. As a pre-school teacher, Anari knows the importance of taking care of children and was shocked to see what had happened to little Zuri Rose.

According to CBS New York, the ordeal began when Anari got a text message from the daycare center asking that she call them as soon as possible. Picking up the phone, Anari was told that another child had bitten Zuri Rose three times when staff had momentarily left her unattended.

Immediately driving to the facility, staff told Anari a different story when she arrived, saying that Zuri Rose’s injuries were caused when an employee fell down the stairs holding her.

Speaking with People, Anari said, "I was shocked and heartbroken,” by Zuri Rose’s appearance. When Anari came into the daycare center, Zuri Rose was sitting by herself and wasn’t behaving like a happy, joyful child. Anari was further upset because Zuri Rose’s injuries didn’t match any of the stories that the staff had told her.

According to People, after picking her up, Anari drove Zuri Rose to St. Barnabas Hospital where, after a CT scan and an x-ray, doctors diagnosed her as having a mild concussion. Anari reported the incident to police and it is currently being investigated by Child Protective Services and the Special Victims Unit.

While Anari is waiting patiently for the results of the investigation, she has nevertheless expressed frustration at the daycare center’s staff. After paying $800 a month to the center, Anari told People she feels that the center’s employees did not provide Zuri Rose with the care she needed to stay safe. The young mom further feels that the center should be charged criminally or shutdown for what happened to her daughter.
