New Dad Gets BMW For Free From Brother After His Car Bursts Into In Flames In Hospital Parking Garage

The last thing on Travis Trent’s mind when he pulled into the parking garage at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington, was his car’s maintenance. Instead, he was excited to visit the hospital to spend time with his girlfriend, Jordan Schultz, and their two-day-old infant daughter, Kennedy. Yet as soon as the heating and air conditioning technician began to park, he knew he was in trouble.

The new father reports initially his blower motor made an awful screeching noise, but the problem quickly escalated. Smoke began to pour out of the dashboard and when Trent popped the glove box open, he saw the bright red color of flames.

Without hesitation, Trent restarted his vehicle and drove it straight to the top of the parking garage in order to find an isolated area for the fire to burn out.

As he dashed out of the burning vehicle, he had about a minute to grab his girlfriend’s makeup kit and the new car seat out of the back before the 2000 BMW 528 exploded into flames.

Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, which responded to the blaze, stated, “You probably shouldn’t drive a burning car.”

Yet they commended Trent for his bravery as his actions potentially saved the entire parking structure. His vehicle, however, could not be recovered and was demolished by the incident.

All was not lost as Trent’s brother, Nathan Craig, heard of the situation and hatched a plan to help the new parents find another set of wheels. As the owner of Sunset Auto Wholesale, a car dealer located in Tacoma, Craig was in the ideal position to help.

When Trent arrived at the car dealership to supposedly pick up baby gifts for his new daughter, Craig surprised his sibling with an identical BMW from his lot like the one destroyed in the fire previously.

From Trent’s brave actions to Craig’s kind gesture, this story reminds us of the goodness in the world. Have you ever received the unexpected help of a family member in a time of crisis?
