With singing competition shows becoming more and more popular throughout the years, there’s become a pattern with the type of songs artists choose to audition with. Many artists choose a song that they’ve sung thousands of times and one that they’re comfortable singing and know that they can nail in front of the judging panel.

This was exactly the case for singer Michael Rice when he tried out for the show ‘All Together Now,’ a competition-based talent contest. The stakes are higher than ever on this show and it may make the contestants a little more nervous than usual because they aren’t just trying to please one or two judges, but rather 100 judges in the same room! Well, lucky for Michael, his choice of song paid off with his amazing cover of Tina Turner’s song ‘Proud Mary,’ he got all 100 judges to stand up and applaud him!

The 100 people all work in different sectors of the music industry, and Michael surely felt the pressure as he made his way to the stage nervously. However, once he began singing, everyone was immediately swayed by his powerful vocal ability. Within just the first few lines, the judges were in awe of his talent. Everyone in the room was clapping along to the song.

But once Michael got to the upbeat part of the notable track, the judges began dancing and it seems as if this response got Michael more comfortable singing. He completely opened up and let his insecurities go as he nailed the cover song with perfection. Thankfully, all 100 judges decided that they were impressed by his song and he moved along in the competition!

This isn’t Michael’s first performance on television, however. Five years ago he joined the cast of ‘The X Factor UK’ and sang another powerful song, a Whitney Houston track called ‘I Look To You.’ However, he never advanced in the competition.

Thankfully, he got the best news of his life when week after week, he advanced in the finals of ‘All Together Now,’ and ended up winning the entire overall competition with a final performance that pleased 94 out of 100 judges using a ‘Hallelujah’ cover from Leonard Cohen. We can all learn a lesson from Michael on how we should never give up on our dreams.
