Normally, Makayla Phillips acts just like any other teenager. She has high school crushes, she studies for her driver’s license test, and she tries to keep her grades up in school. While all of these activities are difficult for any teenager to juggle, Makayla has been able to juggle one more time-consuming hobby. She is eager to be a musical superstar and she definitely has the talent to back her dreams up! If she isn’t at school, Makayla can be found in places that allow her to publicly sing. However, Makayla got lucky when she was able to land an audition on America’s Got Talent. This 15-year-old is truly amazing!

Makayla knew that she couldn’t let this chance slip by. She practiced the song “Warrior” by Demi Lovato as many times as she could before the big day. She was nervous when it came- would they love it or hate it? Would she come home a winner or with tears streaming down her face? She glanced over at her parents with worry and then took a deep breath.

As she started singing, Makayla was very happy to hear the crowd clapping along to the beat. She also heard cheering coming from the judges! When she heard feedback later from Heidi Klum, Makayla knew that they really did love her amazing performance.
