Neighborly Wild Red Fox Waits Patiently For His Favorite Human To Feed Him

Steve Downer from Birmingham, UK, was often visited by a curious fox in his garden. Deciding to befriend the animal and get some footage of its cute antics, he set up a camera and laid out a meal for his foxy visitor. What started as an idle curiosity and side project has now developed into a close friendship the two of them enjoy.

You are probably familiar with stories about people saving homeless dogs and cats and successfully domesticating them into their pets. These beautiful videos show people inviting animals to stay with them, feed them, and even play with them. They are nothing but adorable. Now imagine doing these things to a cute little red fox? Scary and exciting at the same time, eh? Being skeptical is normal as foxes are naturally and mythically known to be clever and cunning. However, why do their good looks get under-credited?

Unfortunately, in some countries such as the UK, foxes are categorized under unwanted animals. People go the extra mile to make hunting for foxes a sport, as is tradition. It’s a sad state of affair knowing that terrified little foxes in the woods have to live in fear of the unknown every single day of their lives.

As for Steve Downer, a Birmingham resident, he has chosen to take a different path and treat foxes more humanly than just viewing them as unwanted pests. This emotion and decision sparked within him after his little fox friend began taking frequent visits to his yard. On noticing the beautiful little fox, Steve decided to hatch a friendship with the creature. What do you do when you receive guests in your home? Offer them a good meal. Steve did just that.

Steve went to his yard and set up a GoPro Hero 5 in the hope that the little fox would approach it and find a delicious meal that he had set out for it. In no time, the little fox followed protocol and came out to see what Steve had in store for her.

The fox approached the setup, lurking around to see if Steve would show up. On seeing Steve opening the door, she jumped a little, unassumingly, in excitement. For a moment there, Steve thought that the fox was reluctant about getting close to the human, and he felt that the fox would get scared and runoff. Fortunately, she gave Steve a chance to show what he looked for in their friendship. The fox stepped back a little to maintain a safe space between her and Steve.

Steve knew he had to do much more than just smile to win her trust. So, he opened a packet of food that intrigued her, and she stepped a little closer. Probably she was ready to risk it all for a delicious meal.

Steve silently watches as the fox enjoys her bowl of wet dog food. Like a well-mannered animal, the fox finishes her food and shows appreciation to Steve for the amazing generosity. You can tell she is still skeptical of the strange human from how she keeps watch of Steve from time to time. Blame the hunting reputation.

After eating to her fill, the fox seems to warm up to her new friend Steve. Steve takes out his hand, and the fox comes closer playfully, nipping at his fingers as a kitten or puppy would. Their relationship seems to click at that point when the fox is no longer afraid of Steve, and he delicately attends to her like a domesticated animal.

We hope that this will be the start of a lasting and beautiful friendship. Kindly watch the video of Steve and his new friend fox and let us know if you share the same views. Send this to your friends and family and bless their day with this story.
