A little 8-year-old boy in Missouri started a lemonade stand to raise money for charity. His neighbor tried to have the little business shut down for selling without a permit, then the police showed up at his house.

It was a hot day in Missouri, and one productive kid saw an opportunity to help out his community. As Fox 4 Kansas City reported, it started when his mother’s car was having issues. The air conditioner quit working in their vehicle, so he came up with a plan to get it fixed. 8-year-old Jacob wanted to find a way to make money, and he started his own lemonade stand.

Gina helped her son build the cutest lemonade stand you’ll ever see. They put together a sturdy table, and he really put his heart into making it look nice. They even placed a hand-written sign in their front yard, and they grabbed a few bags of ice to store in his little cooler. Gina told him not to worry about fixing the car, and she suggested that he try to raise money for the local charities instead.

Everything was going great, and Jacob was making a big difference in his little town. The whole experience was really uplifting for him because he suffers from a speech impediment. He was gaining confidence in himself, and he was getting a lot of practice communicating with thirsty customers. It was a dream come true, but it was about to come to a screeching halt.

One of the people passing by walked up to little Jacob, and they weren’t happy with his great idea of selling lemonade. They asked the small boy if he had a permit to operate his tiny business. Jacob didn’t know what to do, but he rushed inside to get his mother. Gina spoke with the neighbor who was complaining, and they brought up a ton of questions. They asked about what would happen if someone got sick from the lemonade. The neighbor wanted to know who would be held responsible for any problems the little lemonade stand might cause.

Gina was genuinely concerned with the points they made, and she immediately put a stop to the lemonade sales that afternoon. She got online, and she spoke to a bunch of her friends on Facebook for any advice they could give. The city hall was closed that evening, and she couldn’t contact any of the city clerks for more details. No one was able to give her a real answer for how everything worked, and she wasn’t able to find out any information on how to get a permit.

Jacob was heartbroken over the events of that day, but it didn’t stop him from putting his best efforts towards raising money for his local charities. The next morning was like a miracle. Jacob went outside to find the entire police force waiting for him! They weren’t there to shut down his new business as the concerned neighbor expected. All of the officers were stopping by to show their support for Jacob, and every one of them wanted him to make a new batch of lemonade for them to try. They lined up in the streets, and each one of them purchased an ice-cold drink from Jacob’s stand.

The officers even gave him a handful of police stickers, and they helped him make his own cute permit to hang on the front of his little table. Jacob is now open for business every weekday, but he closes up shop on Sundays in respect for his Christian faith.
