Neighbor Sends Severe Note Asking Mom Not To Let Boy With Loud Laugh Play in Yard

Neighbors can be the glue that holds a community together, or in worse scenarios, what drives people apart. Unfortunately, the latter was the case for one woman, who received a scathing letter from her neighbor asking that her child not play in the family's own yard due to his supposedly loud laugh.

What's worse, the reasoning was that the grumpy neighbor's two dogs and bird were being disturbed! Instead, the woman posted the angry note to Twitter on May 17, and many users weighed in with their thoughts.

Posting to Twitter, Bobbie Hineman uploaded a photo of the typed letter, with the caption: "Yes it's real." The note already begins in an unfriendly manner, stating: "Dear 'Neighbor' You just moved into this neighborhood a year ago, and I wanted to give you time to correct this problem on your own, but you are apparently too inconsiderate to do so."

It continues to the main point: "Every day this week, when weather has been nice and windows are open, you proceed to let your small child run free in your backyard and laugh and giggle and carry on without end." So basically, the woman's child is just being a kid, but the neighbor finds this very "inconsiderate" of them. Unfortunately, it only gets worse from here.

After pointing out why the woman's child is annoying them, the angry neighbor explains: "This is very disruptive for my two dogs and my bird who sits next to the window and like [sic] to look into your yard." At this point, one might consider whether this is a joke—after all, it's a rather absurd point to try and fault a child for being a child (in their own yard) but then to explain that it's because of their pets?

The neighbor then goes on to suggest a time limit on the child's outdoor play, writing: "Perhaps you could ask him to tone it down a bit, or at least limit his outside time to 15-20 mins [sic] a day," so that their dogs can run in the yard without seeing the kid. Finally, the letter ends on a threat that is absolutely ludicrous, stating: "If this kind of behavior persists, I WILL CALL THE POLICE!"

You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a joke. Unsurprisingly, the letter went viral on Twitter, with many other users weighing in with their thoughts. One wrote: "I think you need to buy your child a horn," to which Bobbie replied, "I was thinking a drum set."

However, other users pointed out that the same letter did the rounds on the internet a few years back, saying: "It's a letter that's been circling on the internet at least as far back as 2016. I can't believe so few ppl [sic] fact-checked this. It's obviously someone's attempt at humor."

For now, Bobbie Hineman hasn't discussed the letter further, neither confirming that it was given to her personally or that it's from someone else before. Either way, these kinds of horrible letters are given to innocent people for real, and that's simply not right.
