Neglected Ducks Never Saw Water Before, Refuse To Enter Pond At First

Unfortunately, many animals find themselves in circumstances that are less than ideal because of owners that aren’t prepared to care for all of their needs.

Shows on networks like Animal Planet have highlighted some interesting cases that people hadn’t heard of before these programs aired: animal hoarding.

Animal hoarding means that people accumulate too many animals to care for them properly, and often the animals are left neglected, ill, or severely malnourished as a result of the hoarding.

Some of the animals that are rescued from hoarding will go on to be happy and healthy, but that isn’t always the case. However, some lucky ducks were able to find their way out of a hoarding situation with the care of some loving rescuers, and Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary made sure that they got the experience of a lifetime after they were rescued from these awful conditions!

Since they were so severely neglected, the ducks didn’t even know the joys of spending time in the water. After they were rescued, many of the ducks needed to be nursed back to health, but the number one thing on the priority list for these animals after they were healthy was to get them in some water so they could experience their natural instincts in the right environment!

Although the ducks were unsure about the water at first, they ended up having an amazing time after one of the brave ducks decided that the water wasn’t all that bad! Soon, the rest of the ducks followed him into the water and finally got to experience the animal’s natural joy of nature.

Thankfully, the entire moment was recorded and is now spreading joy to people around the globe!

The video has been viewed over 6 million times since it was posted in 2012 by the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, and people have fallen in love with the adorable ducks during their playtime. The description underneath the video shows some insight into the life of the ducks before they were rescued. Apparently, the ducks were kept in small pens and did not have proper access to water or the right diet for their species.

The description also states that the ducks needed to be acclimated to water as soon as possible after they were rescued but that it was also important that they had the proper guidance and observation from the crew at the sanctuary to ensure their safety.

Thankfully, the ducks had a great time once they realized how fun the water could be and they were able to grow up to live happy and long lives. You can watch the adorable video for yourself below.
