Neglected Dog Pulled From Death Row Goes On To Rescue Apartment Building Full Of Children

A young shepherd mix, only three years old, had spent the beginning of her life in the worst way possible. She was unwanted, severely neglected, and may have even faced physical abuse.

When she was finally picked up by animal services, her happy story did not yet begin as she was placed for adoption but sadly found that nobody wanted to take her home and waited for over a year.

She was placed on the list to be euthanized, but at the last moment a foster family bravely stepped into her life to save her from that fate and having her courageous story cut short.

This dog, named Kailey, was destined to become more than one in the millions of dogs who are euthanized each year.

Perhaps her foster family somehow sensed this, because despite her being so traumatized that the slightest touch from a stranger would send into fear, where she would snap at them and become so defensive that it was hard for new people to get close to her, they hung in there with her. They knew that she would be difficult to adopt out, but kept with her.

Finally, someone reached out on Social Media who was interested in meeting Kailey. It was a woman named Suzy Chandler, who immediately saw the golden heart of this hurt and traumatized shepherd, and adopted her. This was a change in the fate that Kailey was not used to.

Suddenly, she had a life with someone who would not only love and care for her but who was devoted to being with her forever.

The new situation was going perfectly and Kailey was adjusting to this new life. But on one fateful morning, Kailey's new mom, Suzy, noticed that her newly adopted shepherd was acting very strangely. Kailey was barking and growling, making odd noises and behaviors that Suzy had no idea how to interpret.

It was obvious that she was trying to get the family's attention, but nobody could understand what Kailey was trying to say.

As soon as she was let outside for a walk, Kailey started to pull Suzy with all of her strength in one direction. Beguiled, Suzy could only trust Kailey's instinct as she pulled her to a corner of the yard where Suzy began to hear a whooshing sound and smell an overpowering odor.

She called 911 immediately after noticing it was a ruptured gas line, recognizing the smell of gas.

When the fire department got there, they found that the gas leak was related to a nearby apartment complex where many children live with their families. If Kailey had not been able to snigg out the leak and alerted her family, who knows what could have happened. Gas leaks can be deadly if unnoticed.

At the end of it all, Kailey's loving mom urges people to adopt a dog if they have the room and the love in their hearts, and that everything you give to your precious pooch will come back tenfold. Watch the whole story in the video below:
