“NCIS” is a television series that follows a fictional team of special agents, their work and their personal lives. The show combines elements of military dramas and police procedural genres, making for an extremely impactful show that has gone on to become a fan favorite and phenomenon. “NCIS” first aired back in September 2003 and has since gone into broadcast syndication as one of the longest-running scripted non-animated primetime TV series.

There are also several spin-off series, including “NCIS: New Orleans” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” The latter premiered back in September 2009 and follows the daily lives and careers of the Los Angeles Office of Special Projects, which specializes in undercover assignments.

When the show originally aired, its main stars included LL Cool J, Linda Hunt and Daniela Ruah. Today, LL Cool J and Ruah are still both on the show, as well as several other notable stars, including Eric Christian Olsen. While he was only a recurring character on the first season of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” he was quickly promoted to a series regular the following season and is still on the show to this day.

While “NCIS: Los Angeles” is the TV show that Olsen is most known for, he has also appeared in several films over the course of his career. On top of that, he has built an impressive empire for himself and also started a beautiful family. He even has an incredibly close relationship with one of his co-stars, who just happens to be a member of his family! Read on to find out more about this actor’s life and career.

Olsen was born on May 31, 1977, in Eugene, Oregon. However, he spent most of his childhood in Bettendorf, Iowa, where he pursued studies in Japanese and Chinese, and also played several sports. During his school years, he began performing in local theater productions and later found a love for improv.

The actor first began landing roles in the late 1990s. Moving forward, he continued to land small roles, and even had a small part in the film “Pearl Harbor.” Shortly after, he landed a leading role as a cocky blonde named Austin in the teen feature film “Not Another Teen Movie.” Olsen landed a similar gig several years later when he portrayed the character of Nick Brady in the 2009 cheerleading film “Fired Up!”

Some of Olsen’s other notable films include “Cellular,” “Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd” and “The Thing.” On television, he has had several appearances on the sitcom “Community.” According to CBS, he played the role of Perry Hilton – a parody of Paris Hilton – on Will Ferrell’s website Funny Or Die.

During a 2011 interview, Olsen talked about how he enjoys acting in both films and TV shows. “They’re both fantastic,” he said. “Film has allowed me to travel all over the world and do some amazing jobs.”

Still, it’s clear that Olsen’s most famous role is as Detective Marty Deeks on the series “NCIS: Los Angeles.” He’s been on the show since the beginning, and was promoted to a series regular in the second season. His older brother, David, acts as his stunt double.

During an interview with Vulture, Olsen talked about how he had been taking culinary classes prior to landing his role on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” He explained, “At culinary school, none of the things we use to define ourselves outside that world – actor, producer, student – none of that matters. It’s a magical art form.” However, he dropped out once filming for the show picked up.

It’s clear that Olsen made a smart career choice with picking acting, as he has an estimated net worth of $13 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. He also has a beautiful family, as he is married to actress Sarah Wright.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the pair joked about how they didn’t get along when they first met, but Olsen admitted that he thought Wright was “gorgeous” and Wright appreciated him laughing at her jokes. The two went on to become engaged in October 2011 and married the following year. Together, they have one son and two daughters.

However, on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” Olsen’s character is in a relationship with the character played by Ruah – who just so happens to be his real life sister-in-law! Olsen’s brother David and Ruah tied the knot back in 2014 and have been happily married ever since.

Still, Olsen can’t help but be invested in his on-screen romance, as he seems to be just as big of a fan of the Deeks and Kensi as “NCIS” fans, according to Vulture. During an interview with Queen Latifah, Ruah even talked about how she had gone into labor while she was at Olsen’s house! “NCIS: Los Angeles” truly not only helped put Olsen on the map in the entertainment world, but it also gave him a life-long friendship with his sister-in-law.
