Navy Men Sing Christmas Song Together, Then An Unexpected Twist Brings Crowd To Tears (Of Laughter)

The band that represents the United States Navy has long been regarded as one of the best the armed services has to offer. The band was formed in 1916 when a group of 16 musicians from the USS Kansas merged with a band consisting of 17 members from the presidential yacht known as the Mayflower.

The group called themselves the Washington Navy Yard Band. Later they took the name United States Navy Band.

Recently, a handful of the talented vocalists who are part of the band provided holiday revelers with an acapella performances to celebrate the Christmas season.

The five vocalists performed while wearing holiday apparel that set the comedic tone long before the performance began. The quintet chose Walther Chase's The Christmas Can-Can as the song they would use to entertain the crowd. The song is one that is off the beaten path for Christmas songs and known for instigating riotous laughter from audiences.

Chief Belinkie is the senior musician in the group and Petty Officer First Class Dave Sigmon is his second in command. They are joined by Ben Bransford, Bill Edwards, and Robert Kurth. The performance took place in Washington D.C. at the Dar Constitution Hall. The fans in attendance loved the performance.

The famous acapella group Straight No Chaser was first to make the Christmas Can-Can song a favorite for listeners. The song brings joy and laughter while celebrating the holiday season. The song jokingly explains how Christmas revelers begin the season earlier and earlier each year. At one point, the song proclaims the Christmas season as beginning on Halloween and ending on Christmas Day.

The performance is made even funnier when you witness the men banging themselves on the head while continuing to smile, grin, and impressively sing the song.

While it is true that most Christmas songs are enjoyed by listeners, the comedic element of The Christmas Can-Can song adds a twist that is too much fun to ignore.
