There are millions of people who love the Christmas season. We love the lights, the presents, visiting with family, shopping, holiday cookies, and cold weather. We get to visit with people we may not always get to see. There are holiday parties and sappy movies on the television the whole month of December.

Another reason people tend to love Christmas is for the songs of the season. We all know and love the classic song “Jingle Bells.” It can put even the grumpiest person in the spirit when it comes on.

Since 1925 The United States Navy Band has made the whole country proud. They have performed in many places that most bands do not have the honor of playing, such as presidential inaugurations, dinners, funerals, and many more important events. They play all types of genres, such as jazz, classical, and country.

In 2015 the band decided to make “Jingle Bells” the hit they would play at a holiday concert. However, they were eager to make it really special. They didn’t just play the song, they made sure it became a contest between a guitar and a banjo.

We all love listening to Christmas music in the different ways that it can be played, whether it is the piano, violin, guitar, or banjo. No matter the instrument used, hearing Christmas music makes us feel festive. So when the band decided to have a friendly guitar and banjo duel, it made it that much more spectacular to witness.

The band didn’t disappoint us at all when it came to this unique rendition of a classic we all know and love. Two officers got into a “fighting” position before they began their showdown.

We could almost guarantee you have not heard this classic song played this way. You’ll be amazed at the intensity the players brought to the table when they put this twist on a favorite Christmas classic.
