Self-care is something we all should practice, and for ladies, it is often a relaxing manicure that fits the bill. Angela Peters believes in this, but recently, when she went to a salon to get her nails done, employees coldly turned her away.

Angela, a poet, artist and entrepreneur, has cerebral palsy, and salon workers informed her that they could not honor her request for a manicure. Due to her condition, the Michigan woman uses a wheelchair. Of the incident, she told WNEM, “When I went in there, they denied me because they said I moved too much.”

After the fact, two women learned of the incident and decided they would pamper Angela on their own. Walmart employee Ebony Harris regularly chats with Peters when she shops at the store. When Harris learned of the incident in the salon, she instantly took action.

Ebony said to WNEM, “I found out what happened and I just asked her, ‘Do you want me to do your nails?’ And she just started smiling and said 'yeah.'” Soon enough, Angela was selecting nail polish from the store, and Ebony skipped her lunch break to set up a makeshift nail salon to paint her friend’s nails at the store’s Subway restaurant.

Tasia stated to WNEM, “If you see someone that’s going through something, and they need help, help them.” Ebony added, “We’re not trying to bash anybody, anybody lose their business or anything, but create an awareness.” A grateful Angela has remarked, “I’m making new friends at Walmart as well, and they get to see my abilities too. So it’s awesome.”
