Specifically, myths concerning how a person should charge their phones have been greatly misunderstood, resulting in dozens of myths.

Below, several of the most popular myths concerning phones and other devices have been listed for your convenience.

Charging Your Phone Overnight Isn't Actually Bad

Nothing is wrong with charging your phone overnight. The batteries in phones are expensive. In fact, the battery is one of the most expensive parts of a cell phone. These batteries have a switch that stops electricity from feeding into the device when it is full. When a phone is fully charged and not in use, it will stay fully charged for hours. No harm can come to your device from charging it overnight.

You Don't Actually Have To Purge Your Battery

Everyone has heard someone say that letting a phone drain to 0% is healthy for the battery. The truth is, the batteries in phones are limited in their lifespan, but it isn't as bad as it sounds.

It works like this: one cycle is a full charge from 0% to 100%. The average iPhone battery works at its peak for about 500 cycles before it starts to deteriorate. Charging your phone from 90% to 100% doesn't use a full cycle. It merely uses 1/10 of a cycle. It makes no difference when you charge your phone.

It's Actually Fine To Leave Your Charger Plugged In

Likely, someone has told you to not leave your charger in the wall when it isn't plugged into your phone. In reality, this is perfectly fine. Any electrician will tell you that you need a complete circuit for electricity to flow through a wire.

It Is Perfectly Fine To Use Your Phone While It Is Charging

The myth is: using your phone while it is charging is bad for your phone. Some people say that it makes the phone overheat, but if your phone is overheating while plugged in it is likely due to a preexisting issue. Using your phone in 90 degree weather will end up causing more damage to your phone than using it while it is charging.

With these myths in mind, go out and use your phone as you wish. No longer do you and your friends have to be restricted by common misconceptions about how chargers work.

Be sure to let everyone know that their common objections to charging their devices are actually myths!
