Happy anniversary to the smash hit "Mr. Brightside" performed by The Killers. The hit song came out a whopping 15 years ago. It has been played over 800,000 times per week in the last year alone. In total there have been around 45 million streams of the track in 2018. It is the most streamed song that came out before the year 2010.

Though the song is mainly about unrequited love and romantic feelings, many people use it as music for other events. Weddings, school dances, funerals, and more have been shown to play the song.

An unknown fact is that the song was released twice before it became the success it did. The first release wasn't a hit which is why they had to release it a second time. The second time around the song became famous. It was the American's band first release. The tune is incredibly recognizable and easy to sing along to.

Recently there's been news from the band themselves that many people have been singing the beginning of the song incorrectly. Most people sing "Coming out of my cage and I've been doing just fine". That's not right. Even lyric websites had the wrong lyrics. The actual lyrics are "Coming out of Nic Cage and I've been doing just fine". Many people were baffled but amused by the misheard lyrics.

Regardless of whether you knew the lyrics correctly, "Mr Brightside" is a classic song that has taken the world by storm and will continue to do so years from now.
