Sometimes it might seem as though people no longer care about one another, but there are still many brave and selfless people everywhere. One woman in Chicago was running from an ex-boyfriend who was trying to kill her and was lucky enough to encounter three of them.

The woman was at her job as an office manager when her ex-boyfriend showed up with a gun. He had a history of terrorizing her that included breaking into her home and beating her father with a golf club.

After serving 10 years in prison for that crime, he came after her after his release.

The woman ran into an alley to escape the man.

There were three movers from the Wisdom Moving Company there, and she asked them for help. They did not hesitate and told her to get in the van where they hid among the boxes.

One of the movers called 911 on his cell phone while they hid. The ex-boyfriend shot himself in the alley when he was unable to locate her.

Police said the quick thinking and actions of the movers saved her life. The men received an official proclamation for their actions although they say they don't think of themselves as heroes.

You can watch the movers tell the story in their own words in the video.
