Motherly Cat Helps Rescue Newborn Pit Bull Puppy

There is nothing better than stories of animals who go out of their way to help other animals. We all love wonderful stories about the types of animals who do not seem to care that they are helping another species of animal, such as this story about a puppy and a cat. When two species come together to take care of one another, it really warms our hearts.

This is a story about an abandoned puppy named Noland. Noland, a Pit Bull, was rescued by the loving staff at Cleveland Animal Protective League when he was just a day old.

Unfortunately, Noland did not have a mother to take care of him. Because of this, the odds of him surviving were very slim.

A puppy of his age needs a mother to nurse off of to survive, which Noland did not have.

However, this didn’t stop the staff from doing everything that they could to help the little puppy. Lurlene, a cat that had just recently had her own litter of kittens, stepped up to help the puppy.

The staff believed that she would accept Noland as one of her own if they placed him with her.

Luckily for the orphaned puppy, their hunch paid off. Lurlene was happy to help the puppy out with her milk.

Lurlene must have believed that Noland was just an odd-looking, slightly larger version of her own kittens. She allowed Noland to nurse along with her other babies. It was truly a heart-warming sight to see.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the staff and the kindness of this cat, Noland grew stronger every day.

Eventually, the staff was able to wean him onto puppy food and off of the milk of the mother.

The story has an even happier ending, believe it or not. Both Noland and Lurlene were adopted shortly after into loving homes. It doesn’t end there, either.

Their rescue story won the shelter $25,000 through the giving Petco Foundation. So many people enjoyed their wonderful story. They touched many hearts for sure!
