Mother Who Lost All 3 Sons To Liver Cancer In Just 4 Years Says It's Part Of 'God's Plan To Make Her Faith Stronger'

No parent wants to outlive their children. For mothers, there’s rarely a greater heartbreak than losing a child.

We can learn so much from the words of insight and wisdom from those who’ve faced such a tragedy, but this mom’s words are particularly profoundly moving considering she’s lost all three of her children in a very short period of time to the same culprit.

Meet Lorelei Go

This single mom from the Philippines knows more about loss than most of us care to even fathom. Lorelei Go lost all three of her children within just a couple of years. She watched as each fought and lost their own battle against cancer.

Rowden, Go’s eldest son, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2014, which resulted in cirrhosis. At only 29-years-old, the doctors gave him the heartbreaking prognosis that he wouldn’t live out the month. He was in love and dying. So, he and his fiancé, Leizel, decided to marry even though he was on his deathbed. Less than ten hours later, Rowden passed away. He left behind a grieving mother, wife, and two brothers.

It would only be a year later before Go would bury her middle son, Hasset. The family had apparently undergone testing following Rowden’s death. It was discovered that Hasset suffered the same liver cancer. His was at stage three, however. Despite some time for medications and treatment trials, the young chef didn’t survive. He was also 29-years-old when he passed away.

Go’s youngest son, Hisham, worked at a financial firm prior to getting sick. Like Hasset, Hisham, was also diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent various treatments, including an experimental cryosurgery in China. None of the measures worked to prevent his cancer from reaching stage four. Just over two years after Hasset’s death, Go would bury her last remaining son. He was 27-years-old.

Go’s story, including Rowden’s wedding video, have become viral tearjerkers on YouTube. Interviews with Go show a mother overcome by grief but empowered by faith.

Despite unanswered prayers for the recovery of her eldest and middle sons, Go still prayed for her youngest son to be healed. While she did describe a time when she questioned God’s plan, she makes it clear that she realizes testing and faith-building are all part of God’s plan.

Go believes eternal life and being saved are important, and she recalled that Hasset once told her that they were blessed to have been given time during their illness to ask for forgiveness, a luxury that expedient deaths often can’t offer.

As a person of faith, Go prefers to think about her sons being happy and painless now and the time she can be reunited with them. That, she says, is what gives her strength. When speaking to GMA Public affairs, Go said she knows it's all part of God's “plan to test and make my faith strong,” as cited by goodtimes.my.
