No one likes to go into a public bathroom. But when you have a baby, you do not always get an option. You have to change your baby's diaper right away, so the public restroom is the only option. Recently, one mom from Indiana warned about the hidden danger that is lurking in these restrooms. While germs are always an issue, the biggest danger comes from something most people don't realize.

One Mom Speaks Out

You expect that the bathroom would be dirty and filled with germs. Many parents lay a blanket down before they change their baby's diapers. But after hearing what one mom has to say on WTHR you might want to invest in some antibacterial wipes.

Jessica Wayman recently posted about the black spots on changing tables. If you are like most parents, you probably assumed that the black marks were from dirt. According to Jessica, these black spots actually happen when addicts use the changing tables to shoot up drugs.

The young mother just wanted to share the information with her friends. Before long, her post began to spread. Jessica urged fellow parents to clean the changing table or use a blanket instead of putting their child on top of it.

The mom knows what she is talking about. While she is in recovery now, the mom used to be an addict. According to Jessica, the black marks are from burned spoons that addicts use to shoot up.

The damage is not just cosmetic. After the addict is finished shooting up, heroin or meth residue could be left behind. The individual's body fluids can also be left on the changing table. Jessica warns parents to be extremely careful. If the addict does not care about their own health, they will not think about how their habits could hurt children.

Even if parents use a blanket on top of the changing table, they should still be careful. Afterward, the blanket has to be kept away from the child. Babies often put blankets in their mouths, which could cause them to absorb any drugs on the blankets. With the rise of high-strength drugs like fentanyl, this could be extremely dangerous. It only takes a tiny amount to kill an adult, so a parent would not be able to see the minuscule flakes that could kill a tiny baby.

Parents Push Back

Amazingly, some parents are angry about Jessica's desire to spread awareness about the issue. They say that she is just trying to create fear about a false issue. Jessica has pushed back against her critics. As a recovering addict, she knows that many addicts use changing tables to crush up drugs and shoot up.

Other parents would not be aware of this problem, so Jessica felt obligated to warn parents and keep children safe.

Did you know about this issue? Spreading awareness about it could save an innocent child's life. Make sure your friends and family members know about this hidden danger in public bathrooms.
