Mother Of Two Who Married Tree As Part Of Campaign Celebrates First Wedding Anniversary

38-year-old Kate Elder celebrated a very distinguished anniversary on September 12, 2020. She heralded the day as one of the best decisions she has ever made. What decision is the 38-year-old commenting on? Well, Kate is talking about the day she married an Elder tree. If you think the name "Elder" in her last name is a coincidence, think again. Kate took the name of the tree species.

Before you prepare a high and mighty comment that laments the sacredness of marriage, it might help to know that Kate actually married the tree for a very special cause. She wanted to help support a campaign to stop a bypass from being built through Rimrose Valley, where the tree she married resides.

The New Bride Speaks Out

How has the new bride felt about her decision to marry the tree and even visit it many times a week at its location? "It's given me a new purpose," Kate explained to The Mirror, throwing in that the wedding itself "made me feel a bit more confident," and heralded the day as one of the best decisions she has ever made. Kate is happy to share part of her time in the Rimrose Valley with her very special tree.

Kate is a much different person in real life, though. She has two children and is actually married to a real-life human being who takes good care of her. She had a very normal occupational life as well as a former teaching assistant who gave up her job to take care of her two beautiful children.

Rimrose Valley Park in Danger

Rimrose Valley Country Park is located in Sefton, Merseyside. This is where Kate first heard about plans to build a bypass in this area and potentially destroy many of the tree life within this zone and immediately decided that marrying a tree might bring some quick attention to the issue.

Kate has been filmed with her tree love in the park on several occasions, but her latest photoshoot is perhaps the most personal. Pictured hanging onto the branch of her favorite tree - and spouse - Kate performed the deeply personal photoshoot in yet another attempt to keep attention on the city's plans to build a bypass through this area.

The destruction of old trees is something that generally draws a lot of media attention. There is no word yet as to whether the city has responded to Kate Elder's attempts to bring light to this issue.

While Kate takes the time to visit the Elder tree in Rimrose Valley, she still maintains her average, normal, everyday life with her husband and two children, all of whom are proud of Kate for sticking up for a cause she really believes in, reports The Mirror. There's no way to know yet if she'll end up saving the tree, or any part of Rimrose, but for now, we at least know there's someone out there like Kate who is willing to put their reputation on the line for a good cause.
