In Alliance, Ohio, 31-year-old mother, Kertisha Brabson, lived happily with her two kids. She was healthy and active. However, this all changed in 2018.

As Fox 8 News Cleveland reported, it all started when she started feeling anxious and overall, unwell. She then had trouble with her speech and verbalizing. She felt deep down that something was going very wrong inside of her, but she didn’t know what.

Kertisha decided to go to the hospital. While she was there, she began having seizures. Soon after, she slipped into a coma. The doctors discovered that Kertisha had a very rare autoimmune disease that affected her brain function.

Kertease Williams, Kertisha’s mother, felt like there was no hope. She told Fox 8 News Cleveland that, “it was crazy because her body was deteriorating right in front of your eyes.”

While Kertisha was in the coma, she was still having seizures. Months after she slipped into the coma, she was having about 20 a day. She ended up being transferred many times while she was in a coma.

Doctors were losing hope as well and spoke with her mother about taking her off life support. They told her that her daughter was brain-dead. However, Kertease refused.
She transferred Kertisha to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where Kertisha stayed for four months.

The doctors there were persistent. They never gave up on Kertisha’s case. Kertease kept asking God for a sign and to give her hope. Seven months later, in April, there was an absolute miracle at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Kertisha suddenly woke up from her coma. Though she still has some recovering to do, she started to regain her brain function.
