Mother In Hospital With Twin Preemies Believes She's Texting Overseas Husband But Wait Until She Realizes He's Behind Her

Home is probably the one thing that deployed servicemen and women miss the most. It has comfort and safety they don't experience when they're deployed. This can be especially hard on parents who miss out on all those "firsts." They aren't there for the first steps, the first word...and, for all those fathers out there, the birth itself.

Skyler Cooper was one such military dad. He was deployed with the Kansas Army National Guard in Kuwait for seven months. He left behind his wife Cydney and their sons Leighton and Corbett.

When Skyler left, Cydney was pregnant with twins, according to a post on the Facebook page. She was only at 33 weeks when she caught the flu. Cydney gave birth to their twins Emma and Kyla prematurely. They had to stay in the NICU.

The whole experience was extremely stressful. With twins in the NICU and two sons at home, Cydney was, in her words, "hanging on by a string." She missed her husband more than ever, told Good Morning America

One day, an exhausted Cydney was in the hospital visiting her baby daughters. She got a text from Skyler, asking how the twins were doing.

At that moment, he walked into the hospital room with flowers and American flag balloons. Cydney couldn't believe it. She burst into tears. Cydney told Good Morning America that she was both shocked and relieved.

Now that Skyler had returned, he and Cydney could extend the surprise a little longer. Their two boys were overjoyed to discover that their father was back home.

Cydney posted about the reunion on Facebook. She shared the statistics of their "1 year of crazy." Cydney measured it this way: “1000s of miles, 1 solo pregnancy and delivery, 48392 Skype calls, some superheroes, a few plane rides, 12 NICU days, tons of help from family and friends, and many tears...". She wrote that after all that, her soldier was finally home.
